Log In to Your Library Account
- My Library Account can be
accessed from the catalog while you are in the library, or from home with an
Internet connection.
- In the first box, enter your Last Name.
- Press the Tab key on your keyboard or click in the second box.
- In the second box, enter the number from your library card. Your
library card number is below the barcode on the front of your Indiana Wesleyan
University ID card. It always starts with "29224" followed by nine additional
numbers.
Enter the entire number, with no spaces.
- Click the "Display my Library record" button.
Your account will always show:
- Your Name and Phone Number.
- Your Library Card expiration date
- Search the Catalog.
- Log Out button.
Your account may also show:
- A list of items checked out.
- A list of items on hold.
- A list of interlibrary loan requests.
- A list of library fines.
- A Show saved Searches button.
There will be no link to these items if you are not
actively using them.
View Your Checked Out Titles
- Select the "# Items currently checked out" link. If the link does
not appear, you do not have any items checked out.
You will see a list of the titles you have checked out and when they are due
back to the library. The library does not keep records of titles you have
checked out in the past.
Contact the Library for further assistance.
Renew Your Checked-Out Titles
- Items cannot be renewed if overdue, or you have other
restrictions in effect.
- Login to View Your Library Account
- You may wish to select the "Sort By due Date" button to show which
items are due the soonest.
- To renew all titles, select the "Renew All" button.
- To renew only certain titles, mark the box to the left of each title you
wish to renew, then select the "Renew Selected Titles" button.
A message will appear next to each title indicating one of the following:
- If the item was successfully renewed, the word "Renewed" will
appear in the status column along with a new due date.
- If the item cannot be renewed, you will see a message in the status
column that gives the reason for non-renewal, such as "Too Many Renewals" or
"On Hold". If you have any restrictions on your
record you may not be able to renew materials. Restrictions may occur from
fines, overdues, expired library card, item recalled for repair, or holds
placed by others.
Don't forget to write down the new due date for your items.
Contact the Library for further assistance.
View Your Items on Hold
- Login to View Your Record
- To place a hold, Search the catalog for an item and click the red Request
button.
- Select the "# Requests (holds) outstanding" link. If the link does
not appear, you do not have any outstanding holds.
You will see a list of items on hold, and the Status will tell you
where you are in line. If you see "2 of 5 holds" you know that you will be the
second person in line to get the item. If the status of the item is "Holdshelf",
it is at the Library waiting to be picked up. Pickup location reflects
the library you selected to send the item for pickup.
Cancel one or more Holds
- Mark the box to the left of each Title you wish to cancel.
- Select the "Cancel Selected Holds" button.
The Library will hold your item(s) for 1 week. Learn more about
placing holds or Interlibrary
Loan. To place a hold, Search the catalog for an item and click the red
Request button.
View Your Overdue Fines
- Select the "$ in unpaid fines and bills" link. If the link does not
appear, you do not have any fines.
You will see a list of any items on which you owe
fines.
Information such as title and author will be displayed along with the amount and
reason for the fine/fee.
Contact the Library for further assistance.
Search the Catalog
- Use the "Search the Catalog" button to search the catalog just as
you normally would.
The difference is that you will see a message across the top of your screen:
"You are logged in to Indiana Wesleyan University as: Your Name".
If you choose to place holds, you will not have to enter your name and
library card number for each request - only choose the pickup location.
You will also have the option to add a catalog search to Preferred Searches.
Preferred Searches
The Preferred Searches feature allows you to save favorite searches for easy
reference and searching in future sessions. The Jackson Library OPAC can also automatically send you
an email when the Library acquires items that match your saved Preferred
Searches.
- In My Library Account select the link that says Search the Catalog.
- If you are doing a Keyword Search, enter your search terms in the
box. If you would like to do a different type of search, such as author or
title, select that search type.
- Once search results are displayed save your search as a preferred search
click the Save as preferred search button, to save the search.
- Nothing will visibly happen - but the Library has saved this search as a preferred
search for you.
- To see a list of your preferred searches, select the Patron Record button at the top of the page.
- There will now be a name that says Show saved Searches. To see a
list of your searches, select this link.
- From here, you can "Mark for Remove," "Mark for Email," or
you can select the Search link to bring up your saved search.
- If you checked the "Mark for Email" box, when items are added to
the Library that match a preferred search, you will be notified by email the following
Tuesday.
For example, you may wish to create preferred searches for your favorite
authors. Then you will be notified when new books by those authors are added to
the library catalog. There is a limit of 25 saved Preferred Searches.
Log Out
Be sure to click the "Log Out" button to log out of your account when you
are done. When using the My Library Account feature at a public computer, it
is important to "Log Out" to protect your privacy.
